We are so happy to announce that Instagram will restrict posts that promote weight loss products. In the past, we’ve discussed weight-loss teas. We came to the conclusion that they often work as laxatives and can be damaging to your body as well as your mental health. While a myriad of celebrities have promoted the tea, Jameela Jamil of the hit television show The Good Place has expressed her distaste for these companies and their products.
I have been really annoying though… 🤣 But it gets the job done. If this stuff was easy to get rid of, and could be done in just a few cool tweets, then it would be gone by now, and not booming into the 10s of billions as an industry. Well behaved women rarely make history. 🤘🏽 https://t.co/XDBdNCZYPa

Instagram began to work with industry experts including Jameela Jamil. Their new policy will not eliminate the advertisements of these products all together, but they will restrict the promotion of these products and certain cosmetic procedures to anyone who is under 18. Instagram will also allow uses to report ads if they think it violates company policy. If you would like to know more about the movement, feel free to check out Cosmopolitan’s detailed article.
