I’m not someone who enjoys going to the gym. While I do go everyday, I tend to hate the fact that I’m just running on the treadmill mixed with some weightlifting activities. I understand the necessity of staying active and fit, but I also like my workouts to focus on something that can trick my mind into thinking I’m having fun. I like doing things that feel like they have a purpose. Things like playing a sport give me incentive to try harder, and I tend to start looking forward to getting in my daily exercise. Here are some fun sports to try and keep you active and healthy!
Despite the fact that I’ve watched football for years, I’ve never really tried to play it. However, I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy it, flag football that is. Not only is it a fun game to play, football can help improve heart health, which we’ve discussed before. Football also reduces risk of stroke and lowers blood pressure and cholesterol. Like football, tennis also improves heart health. Tennis can also help you lose weight and improve your overall fitness levels.
I grew up watching baseball. It’s probably the one sport I’ve watched more than any other. I used to play baseball/softball with kids in my neighborhood all the time as a kid. Baseball helps improve upper body strength, especially the muscles in your arms. By now, I’m sure that you’ve guess that baseball also helps improve heart health as well. Baseball can also improve flexibility.
Here are just a few sports I like to play in order to wary my workouts. Let me know in the comments below what you do!
